Mataoka is holding a transmog event in honor of the Oscars and to celebrate her birthday, the two are happening on the same day. The guidelines to the event are quite straight forward:
Submit three mog outfits, (Mogit is fine) of three characters from one of your favorite movies, or from one of the award nominees this year…. This is not their Oscar or red carpet attire, but the costumes in the films.
My favorite part however, that I might have gone a bit overboard with is:
I don’t care if you mix mail and cloth – mix and match all you want to get the look you want.
So just to make things clear, none of the folowing outfits are complete transmog outfits. They all lack one or more items and there is a lot of mixing going on.
As I was thinking of what movie to chose I decided I really wanted to do a WoW-version of the Witchking of Angmar, so the choice fell on the Lord of the Rings movies. I will however save the Witchking for last and take the outfits in order of appearance in the movies.
First of we have Frodo down at the local pup getting a drink with his friends. This is before the whole adventuring business and other un-hobbit like activities.
Items used: Talhide Chestpiece, Formal White Shirt, Expidition Girdle, Talhide Lined-Leggings, Seer’s Fine Stein
Second character I went for was Galadriel. Here she is holding the light of
Erendil that she gives to Frodo as they part, leaving him with the followign words: “May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out”.
Items used: Tiara of the Oracle, Aurora Robe, Righteous Boots, Tears of Heaven.
Last, but certainly not least, we have the Witchking of Angmar; The leader of the Nazguls. All stories need some sort of bad guy. And while Sauron is stuck up a tower oozing imminent doom from a distance, the Witchking and he’s fellow Nazguls brings some tangible terror in to the lives of the heroes.
Items used: Sanctified Scourgelord Helmet, Deadly Gladiator’s Scaled Shoulders, Black Metal Cape, Tunic of the Limber Stalker, Westrift Hand Covers, Acherus Knight’s Legplates, Malevolent Gladiator’s Cruelty, Void Sabre, Vengeful Gladiators Gavel.
I think it’s a shame that there are no flails in WoW, not just for this occasion but in general. A mace does however make a decent substitute in this outfit.

*eye boggle* amazing!!
Bravo! That Nazgul oozes menace.
*giggle* Thanks
Fabulous. I especially love the Tiara of the Oracle teamed with the Aurora Robes, they work really well together.
Thanks
Love it, soooo cute!
Thanks
Aww, Frodo is so cute. Great job!
Thanks
Love Galadriel!
They all look great
LOL! I’m so loving Frodo down at the pub!
Ya, me too Tome! When I saw that one of Frodo, I saw the scene at the pub right before they meet with Strider in my mind’s eye.
After seeing your entries, I decided to switch to supporting cast instead of main characters. (I also chose LotR–my all-time favorite movie!) How did you decide on the gnome for the hobbit? I couldn’t decide, and was actually planning Merry as a human then would shrink him in Photoshop!
I wanted those big blue eyes and a more innocent face, so the choice fell on a gnome.
